Community Building is the larger view of party building. A party needs to grow and to function well.  The larger community in which the party and others political parties exist need to flourish, cooperate more often than not, and have the electorate therein reach compromises on public policies and public works programs more often, more efficiently and effectively.

I, JGW, created this category in the "Opinions" section on June 225, 2013, the day the US Supreme Court in effect destroyed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and put another nail in the coffin that holds the fate of US Democracy.  Other Green Party opinion writers on this topic PLEASE feel free to contribute your opinions to this category. Also contribute articles to GP strategy and tactics categories on this CAGI site as well as to related Forum categories also on CAGI!

Post no articles here that are "just" venting "how awful it is" whatever "it" is. Use a suitable Forum category or post an article in the Opinions Section.

The articles in the categories in this Democracy Destroying Politics section should constructively and thoughtfully analyze, summarize, and/or provide commentary about historic and recent acts in [city,] state, national and international politics which have seriously weakened or destroyed small-d democracy. The results should inform progressives in general and the GPCA membership in particular and be "nutritious food for though" for GP people to create effective strategies and tactics.

Categories to collect an increasing number of articles for a given [city,] state, nation, etc. will be provided on-request by email. Those with suitably constructive and thoughtful articles about cities or towns will get a "city" category on request by email.

Add your book recommendations in the appropriate Forum Category of this web site or as comments to a list of books in this category.

If you have an article you think ought to be listed here, especially if you wrote it yourself, please login and submit the article to this category.

Site Content Views means there is more than one way to "look at" and "sift through" the content of this web site.  Each "way" is a view or starting-place for the site visitor or virtual door-way to other doors and windows and the "content" on the "other side" of that door or window.  Hopefully, for the site visitor and logged in site user who knows in general what he or she wants to find, the different views provide an easier and quicker way to get to the more detailed information they most want in the fewest web-page navigation "clicks."

This page (will) shows links to most read articles and web links in several, but not in all article categories and not in all web link categories.

This area of the web site has been infrequently improved since August 2011.

Since mid August 2011 this section has listed categories -- and articles in the categories -- for Tips which primarily are to be progressive campaigning tip articles and tip web links. Ethical Tricks categories, articles, and web links will follow.

"We" the CAGI site content developers hope to have actual Tutorials and then Online Classes articles and links to elaborated procedures or self-paced classes online placed in appropriate categories before the 2012 California Primaries and for use throughout the 2012 election season. I and other instructional designers first need to determine the specific needs for tutorials and online classes from the GPCA members, supporters, and candidates.  jgw110820

CMS stands for "content management systems." Example free open source CMS brands are Joomla!, Drupal, and Wordpress.  Web Sites in the 2nd decade of the 21st century almost MUST be built on some sort of CMS to provide greater ease of submission and revision of site content documents by organization members and provide relative ease of system administrators of now much more complex "web 2.0" CMS web site.  Sys-admins might enable and "tweak" the site's web page layouts, forms for people to fill-out, site-functions like email-blasting and newsletter, donor sign-ups, volunteer sign-ups, small-to-large project management, and many other special features only a CMS site can provide to organization members and the general public which visits and uses the site.

Content Management is what most web site builders until very recently have neglected to consider (since the Internet went public in  1991) when building and deploying a web site for a  "client" like a business or in our case a political party state-wide organization!

Some "management issues" and "technical consideration" types of articles on these topics as they are helpful to the GPCA and the GPCA IT Working Group will be found here.

Only Progressive Live and Test Web Sites get listed on CAGreenIDEAS.org.  Conservatives are not welcome for any site building services "we" provide. You know why.

A sign-up form will be provided "soon" with which to request your progressive organizations own FREE test web site.  The link to that form will appear here.

An overview of the tentative conditions about test web sites requests and uses are to be here. These conditions will under go a periodic review, request for comments (in addition to those already postted to CAGI Forum topic), further review and update.

The articles in this category each (will) present a comprehensive overview, or index, of the articles and web link content on this web site that are related to a particular progressive issue. In this way each article can serve as a "table of contents" and index with which the student of a particular issue may return to repeatedly to continue their studies.

The purpose of this category of tips and tutorials is to offer summary "better" and "best practices" as well as short procedural check-lists for the design, construction and maintenance of a 2012-level state-of-the-art web site. The tutorials and check-lists here will speak to a "generic" non-specific content management system of which the three most popular CMSes are Joomla!, Drupal, and Wordpress. In sub-categories labeled by CMS type (e.g. Joomla!) I (or a "we" to be determined) will offer more specific instructions using both the generic easier to understand language and the idiomatic technical language the particular CMS type imposes.

CAGreenIDEAS.org uses Joomla! version 1.5, soon version 1.6.
CAGreens.org uses Drupal version 7.

Communications includes ways, means, methods and best practices; the latter might be the most important. For without using a communications medium well, the participants waste a lot of time and slow down or stall party progress.

This web site offers free web conferencing services to the general public and to California Green Party members and candidates.  "We" have five online conference rooms reserved primarily for the use of GPCA members.  Login to see "rooms" 2-5. But other GP USA members can use them as well.

Currently online conference room use if "first come, first serve".  The conference organizer must notify all participants him or herself and do what is needful to get them to login to the conference room at the same time.

Sometime in Q1 2011 the site administrator will add a conference room reservation and event notification service to this web site.

Login to use more communications tools and to see a list of online and in-a-building events.

Log in to this CAGI site to add or change upcoming online and in-a-building events and to see the online private-access conferencing rooms. If you are not logged in, you will find at least one "public" first-come-first-serve (anyone can conference) conferencing room available.  Use the "public room" until such use becomes a problem for us all.

Other Site Content Views General Information

The following is a list of the active article sections on this web site. An active article section has at least one article web published in the section or in a category of the section and that article is available to the general public, i.e. the site visitor, as a "public" article, or it is a "private" article available only to the logged in site user who has one of the logged in site user permissions: registered user, author, editor, or publisher.

This area of the web site is under development.

Articles in this category of "News" will use more computer jargon while also trying to be accessible (readable) and somewhat understandable by those non-technical readers.

Please see and sign the new "GVO Conferencing Sign-up List" in the Polls, Surveys, and Sign-up Lists in the left-hand-side menu of most web pages.

If you have an article that outlines or details survey questions which you think ought to be web published on this web site as a real active survey sooner or later, especially if you wrote it yourself, please log in and submit the article to this category.

Sign-up Lists are just a place to sign your name and email indicating you are interested in the topic or volunteer action indicated in the Sign-Up List Title.  However, in most cases you will need to have an account on this web site, log in, and then click-on the particular sign-up list title which you wish to "sign."

As of the date of creation of this article category, 11.10.02, Project Planning and Management (PP&M) articles in this category will be (1) a wish list of articles (perhaps discussed in a Forum category), (2) outline articles about project planning or management (to be elaborated upon by others' logging in and editing them). The initial goal is to present increasing good summary information about PP&M that GPCA members without PP&M experience are most willing to adopt.

See also the paperback and digital book references in the new Project Planning and Management web links category.

If we, the united states of America, are a nation of laws and states governed by laws, we have been screwed by big corporations and banks-favoring changes in US state and federal laws that have occurred since Ronald Reagan became president in 1980.  By the second decade of the 21sst Century more common people realize that (1) the Far Right Wing democracy-corrupting organizations are real and (2) organizations like ALEC: the American Legislative Exchange Council, which have been funded by the super-rich corporate-fascists like the Oil Baron Koch Brothers and about 40 other super-rich in the USA's most Wealthy Fortune 400, the radically conservative 0.1% of the super-rich, have just about succeeded in creating a Global Plutocracy, succeeded in eliminating democracy in the USA, and have created a New Global Corporations World Order that will own and operate the world for a 1000 years.  Apparently no one can stop them and their economic world war on the rest of us.

This truly is the terrible result of the on-going Vast Right Wing Conspiracy's legally created national and soon to be international (world-wide) web of legal entanglements that give the super-rich supreme power and control and which policies enslave and oppress 99% of the rest of us, all but the 1% of the very rich who are now the willing "fellow travelers" of their super-rich global corporate masters.

THIS SECTION Lists articles about the legal tricks and traps that have accumulated since the 1980s and articles outlining and explaining -- in lay person's language -- some of the legal solutions we-the-people can demand our local, state, and federal legislators pass into law.  This Section also list The Federal Agencies, US State agencies, Local agencies AND THE CORRUPTED Laws Which Corruput Them in Excessively Strong Favor of Global Corporations, their free-for-all-the-super-rich-people anti-union, anti-health-and-safety, anti-public-education, pro-slave wage practices and their new born-into-a-lower-caste for life new world order.

These oppressive laws, legally enacted, deviously cleverly written and the increasingly great numbers of them, are also a large part of why YOU feel powerless.  As the lists in this section grow longer, I (jgw) hope you will feel increasingly powerful, aware of what you and your like-minded friends must do to mobilized and to make things better.  May this be so.  jgw140212

The "Criticisms..." category of article exists in the "Ideas, Issues and Arguments" to extend the usually very short, terse site visitor and site user remarks that might appear in one of the Forum Categories available on this web site.

Examples of how radical -- and devious -- are the radical right wing propagandists in the USA.. not otherwise submitted as a web link to this web site.

This site is unofficial.  This section of the site will grow to feature more and various overviews of the Green Party of California and to present in one-web-place summary introductions to past, present, and future GPCA activities. For the technically and "people work process" minded site visitors, there is a "project management" and progress "tracking" sub-system installed on this site.  There also is now and will be more articles giving an overview of why this GPCA-serving "CAGreenIdeas" site exists and why and how it may demonstrate "better" web site features, services including small project management, campaign fund raising and volunteer coordination tools which could be beneficial for official GPCA web sites existing now and to emerge. This site will link to (and translate) each of them:

  • The LIVE CAGreens.org web site.
  • The LIVE Wiki.CAGreens.org web site.
  • The LIVE CAGreens.NationBuilder.com web site which service the GPCA has rented since late Fall 2011 to handle volunteer sign-ups, donors and donations, and to possibly handle California registered voter lists from the Cal. Sec. of State office, newsletters, and email-blasts to volunteers and more-to-all Green Party members in California.

"Our" (currently my) purposes are:

  • Become a web place for the cross-posting (i.e. multiple postings) of up-coming GPCA events in cities or towns close to you.
  • Assist and support web site content development for the CAGreens.org and wiki.CAGreens.org web sites (i.e. have a second inter-connected place for content creation and refinement, perhaps to be used as a test-bench).
  • Facilitate better single web site and inter-connected GPCA web sites searching, document finding, people finding, online and in-a-building (brick-and-mortar) events setup, attendee signup, and notifications. I.e. duplicate information on this site needs to link-to (be a mash-up of) information on the original GPCA site.
  • Enable at least good working examples of more online conferencing of GPCA people on what could be a future upgraded LIVE CAGreens.org web site.
I.e. first "we" technical people have to make "it" and test "it" (new/better features, services, etc. on a proposed 'new' web site) as a group, then we agree that "it" is useful.  "We" techies also decide if "it" is a benefit or burden for the administrators of the "upgraded" site(s). (I.e. is it practical to "keep running"?)
Then "we techies" submit the proposed site(s) to the non-technical GPCA members for their use further consideration, revision requests, and approval by consensus.

Send any questions, remarks or suggestions to my email address linked-to in the footer of this and all of the site's web pages. Thanks. Namaste.
